New Year

So - I tried being more transparent about my opinions on facebook. Huge failure. Apparently, that forum will now be forever used to celebrate with my acquaintances when I read that they are 'heading to the store for milk'. I'm so torn. Half of me wants to just live my happy little life with my baby and my husband in the rust belt and not care about ( Read more... )

ha - it was so stupid. I posted an Obama quote from when he was a Senator in 2006 when he was saying that a discussion about raising the debt ceiling was a sign of a failure in leadership - which I totally agree with... Sadly, he's now pushing to do the same. I was partially pointing out that the great Obama doesn't know everything and can apparently change his mind without so much as a flinch from the liberal media, but mostly I was trying to say I am very frustrated with my government (both sides) for their out of control spending and irresponsibility... I have this thing called a budget and I have to live within it. I understand the basic principles of economics and I understand that most countries are indebted to one another but I feel like there's a lot of irresponsible spending going on in Washington. Frankly, it's probably a little late on my part to be bitching - this has gone on a long long time ( ... )

Don't get me wrong, I'm not that big a fan of Obama, even though I voted for him; he made a lot of promises to the LGBT community, yet has consistently fought for denying basic human rights to them, like marriage (and all the benefits that come with marriage) and the ability to serve in the military ( ... )

Fair enough. I don't want to argue for Republicans in all matters, that's for sure... ... but I will say that many conservative minded people and groups believe very strongly in helping poor and powerless people both through giving but also through teaching and training... When people in my community need food and coats they're not knocking on the doors of political action commitees or the ACLU. They're calling my church which I'm proud to say runs a food pantry and help folks get transportation, jobs and childcare when we can on top of food or clothes to help people get by. It's a Biblical principle that we believe in strongly and follow ( ... )
