. It's damp, and fresh scented. The leaves are turning, and there are leaves underfoot, berries are abundant on trees. The morning sun is hazy and hidden behind thin pink clouds. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful :D. It rained last night until early this morn, so we've had a really good soaking and the air smells soooo good. The season, despite the warmth that's still lingering has definately changed. Autumn is one of my favourite times of year. It's not too hot, not too cold, full of muted colour. Everything has the sense of relaxing down to sleep. There's still plenty of light available, so my mood is quite stable.....hopefully won't plummet into the depths of despair this winter. I seem to be controlling my mood instead of it controlling me lately, which is a good thing :) I plan to enjoy this autumn and winter. We were looking at gardening stuff online last night, and we've seen some beautiful things, so I'm getting quite excited at the prospect of having a nice garden again. I just need to get excited about the prospect of clearing the darn thing (again) and then we can get started, but I'm feeling quite positive about it all. It WILL be nice to have a personal space to relax and reflect.....which is what my previous garden was. I used to spend time just sitting and dead heading flowers. It was therapeutic, and I suspect meditative because I just used to zone out. It helped keep my mood stable too....I used to spend hours in the greenhouse, with the doors open just potting on seedlings, usually with Thom in the baby sling whilst the others were at school. Looking back, I really enjoyed those days. Swaying and humming to the baby whilst you have your hands in soil, encouraging life to take form. I miss my greenhouse. That b*stard has it now. Still I won't let that spoil my day.
This garden isn't so big as my last one, in fact it's about half the size if not a third of the size, and we're planning more on perennials and shrubs etc so a greenhouse wouldn't be such a boon here.....and it would take up a lot of space that we can't really afford so it does have an upside.
I'm toying with the idea of a veggie patch....whether or not to bother. We're going to plant fruit trees, and possibly a grapevine for wine making, but these will be well grown rather than from seed. We planted out a whole veggie patch last year, and not one damn thing came up. Ditto with the wildflower seeds. Darn birds LOL. still at least they've had a well-fed summer. Hence us going for the older plants this time around. Besides, we'd kind of like it to look like it's been there a while for the handfasting so starting from seed isn't really an option.
There's some beautiful roses I've seen.....and a buddleia, and lilies, and wildflowers and....oh I could go on and on. In fact, I reckon I'll go and start now, whilst little un is at nursery. It'll do me good to get the earth under my fingernails again. It's been too long :)
