Long long overdue vacation report

Jul 17, 2007 18:45

Yes, I'm kinda late, I know, but I'll try to remember the most interesting stuff I did ^^ Pics are coming later, prolly when I'm back home, cause internet will be better there and I'M going to get the pics Poi and her uncle made as well.

Ooookay, the beginning....well, saturday, July 7th, I left the house at about 14.15h and grabbed one of those black taxis outside of my dorm to get me to Nanyuan airport. It was pretty expensive, like about 15€, but Tsinghua Universitiy is up in the north and Nanyuan airport is all the way down in the south, so it's okay. I started talking a bit with the driver and he gave me his card, so I could call him when I came back, cause my plan would arrive late in the evening and as Nanyuan is a really small airport, there wouldn't be that many taxis. That was the first nice thing ^^
When I arrived at Nanyuan, I noticed how small it really is. Actually, it has been a military airport and only recently been opened for public flights. So there is one building were you wait to check in, which is really really tiny. After checking in, which went really fast, you cross the street to the next building to get to the waiting area for the flight. The check of hand luggage went really fast as well and I met that adorable family from Chongqing there and talked with them while waiting to board the plane. And boarding the plane was kinda movie like *lol* They didn't have these tunnels were you walk through to the plane, you just walked along the plane and they had that little staircase in front of the plane and you walked that up to board (does anyone get what I mean? Oo).
Well, the flight was nice and without any problems and after I got my luggage after landing in Chongqing, I met Poi and her uncle who had come to fetch me. Conversation was in Chinese and actually it worked pretty well, though I had difficulties in the beginning adjusting to the speed, but it worked out after all. So we first went to her uncle's place, where I would live in the basement in a little hostel kind of thing, so I could get rid of my luggage, before we went out to grab a bite. We went to one of the big shopping malls in the centre of Chongqing, which has a really bit eating...mile..thingy in the top floors and ate at some kind of western style restaurant. I had a tuna pizza and a baileys ice coffee and after that we went to the cinema and watched the new Pirates of the Carribean - in chinese! XD Actually, it wasn't that bad, and as I had watched I understood most of it, and even the voices weren't as bad as I had feared (except for Elizabeth, who sounded too old and too high-pitched). Only the chinese pronounciation of the names was really strange *rofl*
Well, that was my first evening and after that I spent my time chatting (but you know that, ne? xD) and went to bed.
The next day we went to the shopping centre again in the afternoon, this time with Poi's mom, (do I need to mention that it was searing hot? Like everyday...) and I bought 6 really adorable and totally chinese shirts, tehehe. But they are really pretty and colorful and cheap on top of that ^^
Well...and now I have to admit things are getting a little confused, yeah, cause I waited to long to write it all down, I'm sorry...*drop* Okay...just let me tell you that we did a lot of shopping in those days *lol* One day I was out alone, walking all the way the hill up to Jiefangbei, but I didn't buy a lot, except a cute little purse and some embroidery stuff (yeah, I love it! ^^). We went to Women's street to do a little shopping as well. It's like a big market for all the little stuff us girlies need, hihi ^^
On wednesday I think we went to 大足石刻, the Dazu rock carvings, which is really impressive! There are like thousands of Buddha's carved into the stone of the mountain, that actually really tell a story, like about how to live your live as a buddhist and the like. We had a nice chinese guide and I actually managed to understand the greater part of what she said, though she really spoke fast and with an accent as well ^^
On thursday evening we took a boat ride on the Yangtse, on one of those shiny boats, which was really nice, cause Chongqing at night really looks like New York. All the skyscrapers have those pretty lights and the like, beautiful!
And on friday, we went out with Poi's family, including her cousin and a friend of her uncle, to a really, like REALLY luxurious restaurant in a hotel, that looked like it was in Versailles! The food was nice, maybe except of the swan feet...but I never really liked birdfeets ^^;; Talking was nice as well and worked out pretty good ^^ Oh, and I have to go back to the boat ride for a moment! I was having a chat with Poi about Taiwanese dramas and there was this one guy in Devil beside me, who played Mike He's younger brother, who's like 17 years old, but in reality, that guy turned 28 this year! So I was like "how I wish to look like 17 when I'm 28!" XD Well, the friend of her uncle then asked me for my age saying "You're not 20 yet, right? About the same age as Poi, aren't you?" And Poi and me started grinning all over, cause Poi just turned 18 last year and well, YAY! Mission accomplished! *lol* That really made my day!!
Oh, and one or two days before we doing some shopping again and went to a DVD store (where I bought much too much!), and a little on the left to that was a little food stand with some awesomely cute guy, so I looked at him and he was looking back. I kept staring cause I kinda couldn't believe that he was actually checking me out (which I should have, cause foreigners are not that common in Chongqing so basically everyone stared at me *lol*) and then...I really almost tripped over my own feet...he made that kissing mouth movement in my direction! My eyes nearly popped out of my head *rofl*
Mh..did I forget anything special? I don't think so, at least not about the holidays ^^ If so, I'm sure to write another entry about that xD

Weeeeell, yesterday I went to buy stuff for all my dears, so I got a (black) taxi to drive to Wudaokou station, cause I was too lazy for the bike *ahem* Well, I started talking with the driver and told him that I'd be leaving next week, so he gave me his phone nr, so I could call him and he would drive me to the airport for the really fair price of 110RMB, which would be the price of a regular taxi as well (and they have a night rate which is slightly more expensive than the day rate, plus you have to pay highway fees and all in all it prolly would be more expensive to take a regular taxi in the middle of the night). That was the first nice thing. The second happened, when I got of the car and ran into Hitoshi - you know, extremely cute japanese guy that used to take chinese classes at Tsinghua as well, but now is working or something, so I don't see him as often anymore - and we had a nice little chat. That really really made me happy, dunno why not only because he's cute!. Well, actually I wanted to go to Xidan and Wangfujing, but I went kinda late, so I only went to Xidan and bought all the stuff, including some goodies for me *cough*
First thing was the T-shirt Yoochun designed. I planned on buying that anyways, so when I saw that they have it, I just couldn't not buy it ^^ It's that one (click thumbnail for bigger version):

Then SM Entertainment's S-Magazine, that comes with an amazing and huuuuuuge DBSK poster, and another Battle poster, that one:

but with more decoration stuff...hard to explain, but HOT! *flails*
Today I finally sent the next package home and it wasn't as expensive as I thought I'd be. For the first one, that was a bit more than 10kg, I payed like 350RMB, and for that one now, that had nearly 23kg I payed 600RMB. Do I have to understand that? No? Fine ^^ Well, still another one to go with all the mags and stuff that doesn't fit into the suitcase - meaning I have to start sorting out all the stuff today. I plan on going to the post tomorrow, but well, I guess, it will be thursday, cause in that package there has to be all the stuff that doesn't fit into the suitcase or the hand luggage...so I have to know what exactly fits in the suitcase, what to throw away and so on, and to sort all that out it will take some time I think.
Well...that's about it for rambling...oh wait! And I got my new glasses, yay! Now I'm done XD
