Hmm I see the point. However would not the greater outside friction, (them) lessen this internal one to some degree?

I'm with you that it wouldn't go away, but I would also think that it would tend to become less of a factor. Seige mentality--I may not like you but we're both stuck here and frankly I need you as much as you need me to get through this.
