I keep failing to comment on this - I have the setting for " View all journals and communities in my own style" tripped and while it means i can't see what other people's LJ styles look like when I visit, it has so far also spared me the new friends feed style, so maybe try that?

Somehow I've managed to get mine back to the old style. Maybe there's hope? There was also a setting somewhere to limit the number of posts/page too....
