To drive or not to drive

So I am heading to Chicago at the end of June for my future sister-in-law's bridal shower. Frankly, I wish I could just send a check and be done with it, but I don't know if that will happen. so the question becomes: how to get there? Flying is easy but also kinda spendy. I'd fly but then since I don't even own a car or know how to drive... (Don't look at me like that--it's a New Yorker thing--that's true of my family and everyone I know basically). I don't even know what two tanks of gas is. But assuming it's less than 200 dollars, I don't think taking the train makes any sense.

So, just how much of a bite is 300 dollars? Or what it would take to drive? That would drive my decision whether to go or not.

Hm really $300? I booked a ticket from ORD to EWR for Wed to Tues in the middle of June for $120 (including everything) on Continental.

I like road trips, but they're better with friends. If you stop by to see friends, then definitely. It doesn't sound like you're too enthusiastic about it, so anything to help relieve it could help.

My second answer would be b, but it's a hassle either way. =\
