Project Chick Lit Stage 1.
I have decided to become a waitress for a bit. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and haven’t tried yet. Also, since I am already a chick and a writer, I figure the only missing ingredient for this chick lit novel, is the setting. I have this weird feeling that weekend waitressing might just be that missing

I'm so curios about how it all works and the mentality of the people who work there. The girl who does my hair is awesome. She's intelligent, sweet and open minded. SO NOT the whole steriotype Hooters girl many seem to think she is. You know?
I would LOVE to write a novel about a Hooters girl that would stand that whole steriotype on it's head. You know?

I hate, hate, hate using this word, but I guess I found Hooters to be ironic. Anyhow I liked because the wings were pretty good, I had a couple brews & girl bartenders are just better. More fun to talk to. I find many women also prefer women bartenders. There were more than a few women customers present in groups who were clearly regulars. Watching them interact with the bartenders, that was fascinating.
Hey Rhona, I've put my actual VOICE up in my journal if you want a goof. Major league swoonage I am telling you. Be sure you're sitting down. ;)

i have a friend in a comparable circumstance. after considerable time had passed, we mutually called each other on it. "you are an intellectual ringer and not letting anyone know it," we told each other & laughed.
she is part of my life and a major factor in why i must return to New York.

Sure, its hard work at times and you're on your feet a lot but you just might like it. And with your winning personality, you should do well. You will also have a lot of stories to tell from your own experiences, from other waitress/2
waiter experiences and customers' experiences.

I love the Hooters idea because I wish to write a funny novel with layers. You know? What if I could turn the whole steriotype on it's head with a novel? Show the soul behind the body? The good and the bad? Open people's eyes to the reality of judging a 'book by it's cover' in a fun and origional way?
I don't know if it's possible, but I am gonna try!

I'm really into this idea of taking the whole steriotipical Hooters girl image and turning it on it's head with a novel about what's behind that image, about openmindedness and what better way to tackle the whole topic of Beauty is Skin Deep?

I know I've said that on one or two ocassions.

In high school, I worked a catchall job at a very dive-y dive bar where I took orders and brought out plates, among many other things, but I've never been a real waitress with a uniform and a little canvas pocket-apron.
I liked the job, even though it was loud and unruly. I worked in the kitchen a lot and would come home greasy and filthy at the end of the night, but I was never bored. Sometimes there would be fights or screaming matches out in the bar, but it didn't happen often and they were quelled pretty quickly. I think that was the part I liked best--not the fights, but the never being bored.

Yes, multiple times during college. Before that, I was a busser and a hostess.
What did you think of that job?
OMG, it sucked! o_O
