I read the hype on TFN and thought I would like this book... *sigh*
How is it that one writer can fix Luke (Sacrifice: Luke decides his job isn't to sit and ponder, but to kick ass), and the very next book can have him wringing his hands over whether the dark side might "touch" him... and in Fury, we get suicidal, emo, OMG-what-do-I-do-the-dark side- might-have-touched-Ben-if-he.....did what, YOU KNOW, JEDI DO.....KILL SITH!!!!
Gah!!!! Give the man a spine already! Jesus Christ.
Oh, yeah. And Vader was an idiot... (see my mini-rant below). We got that. Oh. And everyone who has ever went to the dark side obviously went because they were kin to Anakin Skywalker...an agent of evil. Not Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker. *blink* Darth Revan and Malak and the rest of the Sith in the galaxy for all time must have had time machines. That Anakin was a busy fellow.
There are a few writers, especially of the Bantam post-ROTJ era - and Allston is one of them - who love to write Luke and Leia as holier than thou when it comes to their father. I don't like his Luke and Leia. I want to smack the taste out of their mouth. When Leis is talking to Jacen about his new Sith toys, she must get a dig at Vader in. Not like Jacen, could ever, you know....turn by himself.
And Jacen's reveal to Allana that he's her father? lol.
"No, I'm your daddy."
lol. Just lol.
Even in this he lacks his grandfather's panache and class...
I won't even get into the battles... I skimmed.
