20 in 20 competition

My competition entry. Thanks to those who commented on the WIP. I didn't go for the icon you guys suggested for 'leaving', but that was largely because I wanted to use it for the quotes section, so it got in there anyway!

They're very cool. I especially like 2 and 20, but 16 is also made of win, and they're all very nicely done :)

Thanks! Some of these I tried to do all sorts of fancy jazz with... and then I realised I was just cluttering things up, and a well-placed crop would let the images speak for themselves much better.

I love 2, 9, 17 and 20. Lovely cropping and use of color/b&w.

Thank you! I worked quite hard on 9, but I was afraid it ended up a bit grainy because of the age and quality of the images. I'm afraid the b&w is all due to the originals, which were promo shots, in those cases, but I'm glad you liked my use of colour!

I think the grainyness lends to the charm.

I've had that issue with b&w promo shots for Sarah, though I mostly used caps for this challenge.

My trouble way that I'd already used my favourite Tegan caps for icons - she tends to be on the move a lot, which makes caps blurry, and the quality isn't that great. I sort of have the reverse situation in that the promo shots are generally better quality, for Tegan. Although I admit that if you can get a good close-up cap of Tegan, the combination of the lighting, her features, and shrinking and sharpening the image produces a beautiful painting-like effect.

In anycase - hurrah! for the old skool ladies, wot? :D

I love 17 & 19. The text on Tegan "leaving" is perfect! Great icons!
