So last time I was at my favorite used bookstore I decided to take a chance and picked up a book I'd never heard of by an author that sounded vaguely familliar. Now, I never do this I tend to be a bit of a book snob. I don't generally read books that are for lack of a better word realistic. Haven't heard of him, alas...

But... a good book in the genre of "what if monster movie stuff was real" is 'Bloodsucking Fiends' by Christopher Moore (i think). Pretty darned funny vampire/human romance. Another good one is 'Jumper' by Steven (stephen?) Gould, about a teenage runaway teleporter.
