I'm still registered to vote in Ohio. I haven't reregistered anywhere, mostly because I don't plan on staying in Massachusetts. Well, despite my change of address forms, I have been served with jury duty. At my parents' house. I have to turn in any excuses as to why I cannot attend by the end of next week. My mom just emailed me yesterday to tell ( Read more... )

This happened to me a couple of years ago. Luckily, I'm only three hours from my hometown, so I went to the court house and showed someone my school I.D. which had my out-of-town address on it. I ended up not writing a letter, but that's small-town politics, blah blah blah.

ANYWAY! The helpful part: most banks have someone working there who is a notary public. You don't have to have an account there or anything.

I think all you will need is something with your Mass. address on it. Like a bank statement? Something like that. Copy it for your letter.

heh... eheh... I dont' get bank statements. Everything is emailed to me now. My checks have my old MA address on them but not the new one. I could send them a copy of my direct loan bill, that has my address on it, but they should KNOW my address isn't in Ohio because it's registered with the POST OFFICE. *sigh*

That could work! Actually, I think even your lease could work, just something to prove that you have an active address not in Ohio.

(This is probably a dumb question, all things considered, but have you thought of changing your driver's license, even though you don't plan to stay in MA? Then they definitely can't get you for jury duty in OH.)

No, it costs over 100$ to get your license changed to an MA licence, plus another 90$ or so for license plates, and then 300$ PER MONTH for car insurance. So yeah, definitely can't afford to do that.

I also have a pay stub that has my address on it, along with a date. I suppose that would work too.
