wow, so ... what did alan say? are they taking out the wood?

No, they are treating it. And it adds at least a week to the process. The big question is, what happens in two years when we (if we) finish the basement, and dad drills into that joist to push wires through it? They have said it will still be okay, but we are waiting for the final word from an independent party on that (Alan and an outside tester, perhaps) before we accept that.

Just imagine, though, if we had built that house with a finished basement. To get to those joists would not be such a simple matter to remediate.
