And it's interesting how things change like that. I still have the overwhelming fannish obsession thing happen, but what's new for me these days is that I can fall in and out of it, instead of having it be a one-time thing, like it used to be. Or I can be in multiple fandoms at once. Right now I'm basically straddling three of them. I never used to do anything of the sort -- I was a strictly one-fandom person, and then I'd lose interest and get into something new. Now it's somewhat lower-key and less overwhelming than it used to be, but lasts a lot longer.
