When three familiar dogs start milling around his legs, barking and shaking out their wet fur, he wishes he'd brought the rest with him. "You must be Peter, then," he says, arching a brow and holding out the towel for him. "Is Shari at the compound?"

"I was at her house, but I don't really want to be by myself if I can help it. Not that I'm scared," I added quickly, lest he got that impression, "But I thought you could use a hand."

He holds out a hand once Peter finished drying his hair, "I'm Derek; I stay here and help Shari with the place. We're trying to seal up the windows right now, but after that I can make up a room for you and the dogs."
