Jury duty notice. The federal kind. Figures, right? I live seventy miles away and I might have to commute to that. Talk about crapping all over my day. xP

Oh wow, that doesn't sound very fun. I've never had to do jury duty, I've always kinda wondered what it would be like. Though, driving that far for it... they could at least be nice enough to put you up in a motel or something.

I did jury duty once about four years back in my county and it lasted maybe two days or so. It wasn't so bad because I knew where it was and the case was kind of interesting.

70 miles out of my way for an unknown number of days is not so cool. My bosses are already going to freak. I could stay at a nearby motel, but I'd have to pay upfront as the courts would reimburse me later for accomodations and bus fare or mileage or whatever.

I do have family in the area, but they kind of annoy me. It would just be waaay awkward. I kind of sort of missed a double christening-thing and yeah, they haven't talked to me since.

On the other hand, I'd be in the vicinity of Uwajimaya and the art museums. That might balance out the bad. I'd kill for some meiji snacks and baked goodies right about now.

So, having never heard of Uwajimaya, I decided to look it up.

I am now completely jealous, we don't have anything like that in the Midwest. Just the occasional korean market the size of a gas station convenience store.

Anyway, I do hope you find a way for it to work out. I understand how things can be tense with some relatives. I've got a few that I wouldn't want to stay with either.

I used to live in Japan when my dad was stationed there. I miss the food and the snacks. Uwajimaya is just about the only place I can go that has everything. If such a place could be called magically delicious, it would be Uwajimaya ^-^ I think they have one in Oregon too, but the main one is in Seattle.

I've been told everybody's got at least one irritating relative they'd walk over hot coals to avoid. Not sure about the hot coals, but there's no way I'm staying at their place. I'll just commute.
