I forgot to squeal about this yesterday, but I have been blessed with a two day weekend for the first time since, well, last November, I think. And now I don't know what to do with myself! Clean my room, for sure, and re-poster my walls with some new posters, and organise all my nsync crap (most of it into the big plastic container that I got for ( Read more... )

I have an HP four megapixel (the photosmart 812) and I love it so very, very dearly. Compact, 3X optical zoom 7x digital, really simple to use. The mpeg option is limited to 1 minute, but it's also almost model from a couple years ago, so I'm sure they've improved that.

And, most importantly, it takes amazing pictures.

I'm sure there are better cameras out there if you're on an unlimited budget, but for the money, they are really quite nice.

Oh, wow, great, thank you. It just looked almost too good to be true, you know, for all the features and the price. but I like HP a lot, always have, so. Plus, anything that takes amazing pictures is fine by me, as I SUCK with the picture-taking and need all the help I can get!

Don't want to rain on the parade, but when I was shopping for the brother, I read a lot of the user-submitted reviews and found that HP scored the lowest with a lot of people. A common theme was "HP does computer stuff, go to a camera company to take pictures." Of course, this isn't based on personal experience at all - I got the brother a Kodak, and I have a. . .well I have no idea, but it takes pictures!

Hmm. Maybe I'll just go to Future Shop or wherever, and make them tell me about every camera they have. That's always fun. Part of me wants to save money, but the other part knows you get what you pay for. Thanks, dude!

Hi, I'm a total nerd synchronik January 22 2005, 14:31:45 UTC
but I just bought a digital camera, like, three weeks ago and (this is the nerd part) went to Consumer Reports to find out which ones are the best. The general consensus was that the Canon Power Shot A75 was the best value for the money, although I ended up getted a A85 because everyone was out of the A75s because of Christmas. I love it so so so much. It's pretty user friendly (i.e. I didn't read the manual and still used it) and it takes awesome pictures like this one -- http://www.puppyshelter.org/joeseats/thegeckster.html (which was taken in candlelight on the first day I got the camera), and this one -- http://www.puppyshelter.org/joeseats/palmtrees.html -- and it wasn't too expensive. If you get it, though, definitely spring for the rechargeable batteries, because otherwise you'll spend a jillion dollars replacing them.

Man, if you're a total nerd, then so am I, because I just subscribed to Consumer Reports to make them tell me which one I should buy! But ohhh, those are some lovely pictures, and oddly, I find your dog very charming despite the fact I am one of those evel Dog Haterz. Hmm. Decisions, decisions. I am so bad at decisions.

Thanks, dude!

My dad bought my mum a digi cam for her birthday and it's a canon and he bought it at the price club I think. I'm not sure of the model, but I can check for you (once I stop being lazy and leave my room). My dad's the kind of obsessive person who will shop and shop and research until he's sure he's getting the absolute best. Best value, best performer, whatever. So I tend to trust him on these kind of things. Anyway, my mum is very happy with it. And I guess this comment is kinda pointless until I get you the model number. Whoops.

Well, apparantly, Canon is THE brand for the average camera owner, according to Consumer Reports. So, I trust your dad, and Synchronik, who came to the same conclusion, and me, who agrees, too, especially after I forked out $4.95US to confirm it.

Eee. I can't wait. I'll be able to take pictures of stuff, like all the other cool people! Joy!

*ears perk up* What dates? Because you do realize that I shall be there the week before Easter and in LA for Easter weekend, yes?

Um. The 24th to the 28th, I think. I don't know. This entire thing was planned with my only comment on the matter being a nonchalant shrug and an "okay." But I don't think we're gonna overlap, which sucks, because that means I'll have to wait until CFTC to see you! (And we should fly together this year again ... unless Frederiction flies direct to Chicago;).

Bah! You arrive on the day I leave for LA!

But yes, we must fly together!
