Did you know......

Did you know that Bush is trying to pass a law that requires everyone (yes women too) ages 18-26 to serve two years in the military? That means that all my friends and all your friends have to go serve. The only way around it is if you're a senior in college and even then they just let you finish your senior year and then you have to serve. I dunno ( Read more... )

and this is why I am not voting for him. I have NO desire to serve in the military. All I want to do is stay in minnesota finish college and become a youth director. We have enough people fighting for America we don't need the whole country to fight for it.

okay so out of curiosity I did my reserch and discovered that this is the same thing that came up last year, and while searching repetitive independant websites I found that in the senate there were two DEMOCRATS that voted the serving two years thing. It was turned down by a huge majority because it was such a crazy idea. This of course, gave the press yet another chance to find some way to turn crap around on president bush ( ... )

First...by look it up I meant go to the website that Congress has and search though all the bills that are going through the system right now until you find the one that says 18-26 year olds have to serve in the military.

Second....I hope we can elect a president that will help the United States to keep what this country was founded on. FREEDOM. May that be freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of choice, whatever. FREEDOM to do what we want to do and not be forced to do things we may not want to do.

Last....above all, I hope we can elect a president that is smarter than me because I think that the president of the united states should be smarter than a 19 year old college musician.

And smarter than me, 'cause we all know I'm not the brightest. And plus, I'm only 18.

You know what's sad? It wouldn't bother me to serve in the military at all because I wanted to do that to begin with. I've always wanted to be a pilot in the Air Force (although that probably wouldn't happen). However, I either wanted to be in the air force or the marines. The way my life has been going the last several years, the military would be a great escape for me and i wouldn't just serve in it for two years. I would try to achieve the highest rank I could before retirement. That's just my opinion of course. It would be scary though but I kind of want some kind of excitement in my life, even if it could kill me.

"It wouldn't bother me to serve in the military at all because I wanted to do that to begin with. "

That's the difference between you and me. I do not want to serve in the military and I do not want to be forced to do that either. That's awesome that you want to make a career out of the military, but that's not the career that I want, as well as many others.

I'm sorry if that sounded mean. I wasn't saying that I was supporting it because it really should be your choice to do a job that could mean your death. You shouldn't be forced to do something that could get you killed.
