I always get weirded out when people do that because I don't really know anyone who does.
Except silly fucking Jenni.
And I hate when people say, "what?" after you say something as if they didn't hear you so I never repeat myself anymore and they usually respond within 5 or 6 seconds.

You ever watch a movie with Erik's mom? The parts shes not talking through shes insisting get paused while she gets up and re-heats her coffee, which turns into doing the dishes for a half hour or so. Then she comes back, movie gets unpaused, and she starts to talk.
