i think i understand what you're saying, but not fully comprehending why being told you have accomplished a lot (for your age or not..) can be transformed into a negative thing. Coming from someone who struggles with career choices and school programs and life in general, i can only hope one day i can be in a position where i am secure with myself and hearing those things from people ONCE, let alone enough to make me sick of it

i realize the nature of that comment may have been negative. but i truly think the way you measure true success is not in your credentials. its how you, truly view yourself as a person. my brother is 25 and is a world-class athlete. missed the olympic team twice by 3 tenths of a second and has about 32 all-american titles and went to university of florida on a full ride scholarship and won tons of freshman awards and athlete of the year and blah blah blah. he's swam across the world and gets paid to swim. he hears everyday how much he has accomplished and blah, but it means nothing to him. he's still scared shitless, the guy hasn't had a job in his entire life. no job. nothing. not even a paper route when he was 12. this is just the beginning, but for some, its out of this world.
my point is, i guess....measure it on your own terms. and dont take it negatively when people are trying to give you a compliment.
