One very normal Saturday night, everyone is hanging around the local coffee shop. Not at the Starbucks, or at the other Starbucks, but at the locally owned coffee shop.
The place is called Genie's. The owner is actually a guy named Blake. Genie was his grandmother and she left the coffee shop to him when she passed away. It's a fairly decent place. Blake can afford cheap prices since most of the older residents, not believing in the Starbucks trend, prefer his house blends and specialty drinks. Not to mention the most comfortable couches on planet Earth are also found at Genie’s. In the center of the sitting area there is a large, black, wood-burning stove, which during the cold months provides the sweet scent of cedar along with the fire's warmth. Tonight’s a warm night however, being the middle of June and a wet night as well. It has been raining just about non-stop for over a week, and so the mood of the town is a bit dreary. Both of the nice couches are occupied, although one of them by a single person, who in his infinite generosity is laying across the whole length of the couch, so you settle for one of the accompanying love seats. A girl is standing behind one of the couches, complaining at the man laying on it. She speaks as if she's had the entire argument planned ahead, and it becomes evident that they have been dating a long time and without much success. It is also becoming apparent that her presence is hardly being noticed, and her complaints are being completely ignored. She's wearing an old college sweatshirt. The gray sleeves are long enough that if they weren't rolled up to allow the placement of her hands on her hips, her hands wouldn't be visible at all. The rest of the sweatshirt prevents any other article of clothing being seen, and you wonder idly if she's actually wearing anything else. Just as you finish your drink, a young man walks in. Normally this wouldn't merit your attention, since people are constantly coming and going, but there’s something peculiar about this man. Something out of place...
