“It's the beat of your heart that will tear us apart."
One of the reasons why Hyunah didn't dare acknowledge the maknae's feelings--when she's started to be more passionate. When their friendly dates evolved into deeper ones, she tried to ignore it and act like it is just the way it was. Just a SoAh bonding together.
She knew how passionate Sohyun was when she sang a particular song when the two of them decided to go to Noreabang. She knew it by the way she has sung it and the way she stared at her, but she didn't dare to acknowledge.
The way Sohyun hugs changes is, also one of the reasons why she didn't dare to acknowledge the maknae's feelings. Before it was just a fluffy feeling, a friendly hug that would make people think the word cute after seeing it.
"Unnie,"she can still remember how Sohyun called her that night. It sounded needy and fragile,
"Unnie" Sohyun moved closer, whispering it in her ears this time. It was too soft, it hurt her ears.
She stared at her for a moment, and despite the darkness in the room she could tell how the maknae’s face was forming--she could feel it, the nervousness and the tension within Sohyun but, she ignored it and acted cool.
"Hmmm...Sohyun? Did I wake you up? I'm just here to drink milk. I'll go back to my room after this."
Sohyun bowed her head and the two of them stayed there for a while standing. Hyunah then decided to move first and opened the fridge. She looked for milk when she felt something warm covered her body. It was not fluffy as before, it was more precious than that, like being trapped inside a crystal but, she didn't acknowledge it. She decided to break the hug and laughed at Sohyun.
"You're acting weird, Sohyun. C'mon let's just go to bed!" She shrugged her off.
Being intimate also is one of the reasons why she didn't dare to reply on Sohyun's feelings. She knows how their fanservice had changed and how Sohyun wished for more, which is the reason why she bursts today, in a one fine random day.
"Why are you allowing fanservice with Jiyoon unnie? Why can't I? It’s just a fake kiss" Sohyun's eyes are shouting in pain but she ignores it…again.
"Because I'm not your boy-friend, Sohyun." Hyunah smiles and patts her shoulder, "Besides, you should act your age when we're filming. People might think--"
"What's wrong with thinking about relationships, unnie? It won't hurt my image as a maknae!" She knows Sohyun is acting immature. But she fully understands the reason-It is one of the hurtful reasons why she didn’t dare acknowledge Sohyun’s feelings towards her. She knows more about image, what other people would think about them and how will they survive it. She knows better than her and the rest of the girls. Hyunah may act like the child in the group but her experience in the stardom industry is enough to make her a sunbae.
She didn’t acknowledge Sohyun’s feelings for her-didn’t.
And now that she’s seeing Sohyun crying because of her is so much to ignore. She just can’t act like it was just nothing. She can’t just shrug it off, like the feelings she has for her...too.

She ignores everything and slowly kisses her. Just a soft brush on her lips but it’s enough to bring a strong effect on the maknae.
“W-what was that unnie?” it’s good she says in her mind, because Sohyun’s stop crying now.
“Hmmm?” Hyunah tries to act cool again.
“What was that Hyunnie…”
“A kiss, you silly. Why? You want more?” And to her surprise Sohyun nods, making her giggle.
“Of course I want more but, I’m confused. You just said that…”
Still cupping the maknaes face, she answers, “I’m sorry for ignoring everything you did for me, Sohyun. Would you let my heart prevent everything from falling apart?”
“No.”
“What?”
“Kiss me, and then I’ll let you protect everything. I’ll even let you be my everything.” Hyunah cracks up on the unexpected statement. In the end, it is Sohyun who looks cool despite all the pretentions and acts she has done.
Sohyun closes her eyes and Hyunah doesn’t hesitate on giving what her Sohyun asks to. The teasing part can wait, she says to herself.
