They say moving house is one of the three most stressful life events...

Sep 05, 2009 18:14

It's right up there with bereavement and divorce. Currently going through the process, I have to say I can see why!

Anyway a small update on my life )

*hugs* please, post pics when you can! At least it's a place you'll be able to decorate the way you want it from the beginning, that's a plus. Safe and happy moving!

Yeah, the colour scheme they have at the minute is actually quite nice so I've just bought furniture to match it. But it'll be nice to have my own place.

Ahem. Chesterfield is not in the middle of nowhere! It's rather close to Sheffield, plus the gorgeous countryside of the Peak District. Chatsworth! Bakewell! Hardwicke Hall! Castleton! Hathersage! Eyam!

Also, crooked spire - it's always been known for that.

My father worked in Chesterfield until he retired and we lived in the small Peak District village of Grindleford. So, yeah, know it well. *g*

God, I miss the Peak District (my parents downsized a while ago and moved to South Yorkshire so I don't get back to the Peaks very often).

In all fairness I haven't had a chance to look around yet, although I have had Chatsworth recommended to me already. I think it's mainly just that it's so far from everyone I know, I'm just feeling a bit isolated.

It's a beautiful part of the country - there's lots to see and do in the Peak District.

And Sheffield is a major city, with a load of shops, although your best bet may be to go to Meadowhall (am not sure how long it'd take to get there from Chesterfield).

I can understand feeling down if its miles from everyone you know, but you'll find that the locals are very friendly and welcoming and it won't take you long to make friends. When we moved there from the Midlands we were pleasantly surprised by how decent and welcoming everyone was - that was one of the best things, together with stunning scenery etc.

Best of luck - hopefully you'll find you'll really like living there. I've been in London for a very long time now, but I still miss the Peak District. Just seeing those limestone walls makes me feel happy :)

I am actually a morning person.

Yeah, I know! What's up with that? You always went to sleep ridiculously early and woke up ridiculously early whenever we had adult entertainment nights.

I'm glad to hear you got the job - congrats on that.

But yes, there was no way you could keep that kind of journey up each day. I look forward to seeing pictures of the house.

Moving is indeed very stressful ::sends destressing vibes::
