Why on earth would I do that? They're pretty cute, and wonderfully entertaining. I even feed the mother squirrel sometimes. Harriet, naturally, thinks I'm mad.

Yes, but they might try to get into your house and, you know, get into your stuff. Also, they're wild animals and domesticating them can cause problems.
