Lately the thing that I hate most of all has come clearly into focus. More and more in my industry out here in Nova Scotia I am seeing the phenomenon I like to call "Stubborn and stupid old people." They are like an annoying bug that just won't go away. And they are stunting the growth of carpentry and cabinet making out here in Nova Scotia. " ( Read more... )

This is what I usually do. If I understand the young persons experience I will let them perform the job at a distance that doesnt make them feel like Im hovering over them. If I see they are doing the job properly I begin my work with periods of looking at their progress. If I notice a mistake I will have them stop show them the mistake. Explain why that mistake happened and show the proper method. If they proceed properly I go on mu business with a distant eye on them. It is not easy to lead, or to teach. I do not bring ageism against the young or old. But everyday we have to prove ourselves no matter who we are ( ... )
