Can I be classified as only stupid when confronted with engrossing social situations that require historical (aka High School) knowledge of the 25+ year old people involved? That and anything involving alternative music like rap and country western...

If you just expect everyone to be stupid, you can instead be pleasantly surprised at the occasional small spark of intelligence you find.
