Originally, I wanted to write a short summary. But... it's more a re-narration than a summary and has gotten quite long. Still, I feel that it's alright, because the dorama is not slow paced, and I want to do the topic justice. How established was Johnny's in 1993 in comparison to now? Was it something they risk because they weren't as "big" as now especially in the acting business? I have no idea, this is just a guess as why they didn't shy back from it then but would probably now.

I don't think it has really much to do with Johnny's, after some musing. Looking at other dorama from the 80s/90s, it becomes clear very quickly that matters like sexuality were treated differently back then. Just think of the show we saw when Shônentai met the half-naked foreigners, or TOKIO were peeping at naked women. I guess it's the general atmosphere of what is allowed and what isn't which changed.

Other than that, I would say that after Hikaru Genji at the latest, Johnny's was already pretty much an agency to be reckoned with in the business, wouldn't you?
