Well, they asked me if I wanted them to call me if they can't find her owners and can't rehome her, and I said yes. The thing is, I don't have my visa yet, so even though its (hopefully) unlikely that it should be denied, I'm not yet a permanent resident so it'd be irresponsible of me to adopt her when I don't even know what's going on with my own life! The other thing is, I can't legally work here yet so I don't have an income to support her should she get sick and need a trip to the vets. Lastly, we don't have a garden and we're already a little bit cramped in this house, and she's a medium sized dog so she'd be ok-ish here, but not as comfortable as I'd like her to be. These are all things I could get around one way or another, but I want to be responsible and mature about things instead of just listening to myself going "DOGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!" :P
Hahahaha, okay, that's fair enough. Before going to university I was entirely convinced that I could look after an animal as well as myself properly but since going & living with a dog in second year, I know I can't. At least, not yet, so I applaud your maturity because even though I know that I reckon a large part of me would still be going "Dog! Woo!" as well, haha. :D
I just called them to ask about what the process is, and I got hold of her ID number so I can track what happens to her :) They usually keep strays for 3 days, and if they aren't claimed by then (give or take a day or two) they'll have a medical examination and a temperament test. If they pass both of those, they go up for adoption, and there's no limit on how long they're kept for. If she fails either of them, they'll contact me to see if I can take her, but if not then she'll be euthanized :S I'll call them again in a couple of days to see if she gets claimed. I'm almost hoping that she isn't, because she was just wandering around and doesn't exactly look like she's in the peak of health. Apparently it's fairly common for people to let their dogs just wander around, which really annoys me. She was so close to getting hit! Poor girl. Anyway, yes, I'm now going over ways in which I could keep her haha :P She's such a cutie!
Hahaha she's lovely! A little mangy, but nothing a little love wouldn't clear up. I couldn't just leave her there, she was so close to getting hit that I'm just relieved I caught her before that happened. She was crossing lanes into direct traffic around a blind corner, it was scary! I'm such a sucker for animals :P
