I\ve had vegan fish fingers before, but I'm not sure of the brand. I'll ask my Mum! I used to really love fish; I found it harder to give up that than I did cheese! Failing that, you can freeze / refreeze tofu, wrap it in nori and fry it. It's not convincing, but it is tasty!
I've been looking for a good recipe for vegan "fish" for a while actually. Or even better, vegan "shrimp" or "crab". Seafood is one of the few things I really miss.
I'm not sure where in the UK you are, but in Manchester there's a restaurant called Little Yang Sing that does all that fake fish stuff, and it's pretty good! You should have a look round Chinese supermarkets :)
Manchester's a bit of a trek for me :/ I'm in Kent.
I'm wondering if nori just you mentioned and lemon juice would give the right sort of flavour. Fish doesn't taste of much but the sea, as does nori, so yeah.
I can't see why not, and it's be worth a try. Or you could just eat the seaweed on its own and be happy like me :D There's a place in NYC called Soy and Sake (also its parent restaurant Red Bamboo, actually) that does salmon. It is RIDICULOUSLY good. I'm not much of a fake meat person, but this stuff is too good to pass up on! I've had fake shrimp before, and it was ok, just a little rubbery. It's also made in moulds and then stuck together, so the coming apart in your mouth thing is a bit weird. Still worth tasting it though!
That sandwich looks amazing! I wish I had the recipe in my hot little hands. Our vegan cafe here kinda sucks, I figured out the recipe to their only decent "B"LT sandwich, which is terribly overpriced!
Oh, me too! I think the tofu was frozen and thawed multiple times as it was super chewy, but other than that I'm not sure what they did to it. One day I'll experiment and try to figure it out, though! What's the "B" made from?
