Egos

"One of the dangers of getting people like us together," Taki reflected casually to himself as he looked out over the strange collection of people in the posh dinning room that should not exist in an old warehouse. "Is egos are bound to get bruised."

It was day two of what Taki had taken to calling 'The Evil Attempt at Undermining the Avengers and Co.' in his mind and 'Bad Idea' verbally and while no fights had broken out yet he wasn't sure that when it came time to pick some sort of leader there wouldn't be bloodshed. It would be troublesome if there was bloodshed mostly because he'd probably get caught in the middle of it and he'd only brought along two spare sets of clothing since his World Lit book took up so much space in his pack; evil he may aspire to be but Taki had no love for the smell or feel of blood.

On the note of aspiring to be evil he was pleased to see that he wasn't the only one that preferred jeans and normal shirts to spandex, not to say he couldn't whip something appropriately evil and spandex-y up but he wasn't rushing to do that either. Honestly with his button down sleep crumpled and his jeans looser in the waist today than they had been the day before he felt like he could be pretty evil, he might even cackle if his brownish hair continued to try and curl rather than lay slicked back. Oh and wasn't that an idea, were they going to start pulling Dr. Horrible's once everyone had shown up and practice evil laughs while trying to come up with code names?

"I like the code names but with the sour look on your face I doubt we'll need evil laughs to scar the lesser good guys away."

Jumping and twisting in a way that had his neck and back popping from how he'd been standing for so long Taki's scowl twisted into something of a smile. "Was I thinking out loud again Emily?"

Emily was the first person Taki had made contact with, the two of them having met outside the warehouse and debating on it being a trap. She was an unassuming looking girl that seemed to have an affinity for smart-ass shirts (today's was "I think therefore we have nothing in common" though when she'd managed to change he had no idea) and hair ties that didn't match anything she was wearing. Much to Taki's despair their first meeting had been a little spoiled when his mind got ahead of him and he mistook her unassuming appearance for 'wannabe' when in reality there was real power hidden behind her stormy eyes and soft smile. She had picked the thought from the top of his mind and promptly hurtled a broken support beam at him with that same sort of thought, he was really quite fond of her for only knowing the girl for a day now.

"I think we were thinking similar things so I picked up on it." Emily assured as she leaned against Taki, her head bumping his lightly as he scowled at her for bringing attention to his oddly short stature for a male. "You know I'm not like the other ones that have full blown telepathic powers."

Reaching up to move some of her blonde hair behind their touching shoulders Taki nodded. "Right, and more than that my thoughts are loud."

"You have so many they have to be loud if they're at the forefront of your mind." Emily chimed figuring he was forgiven for leaning against the man when his chest puffed out slightly and he stood straighter with an air of pride. Honestly, men. "Anyways what do you think of them?"

Glancing sideways to Emily for a moment Taki looked back over the crowd that was very slowly growing. "Well, we've got a variety of powers and skills, plenty of dedication, and-" He paused as another person came crashing through the heavy doors and into the nice room. "Numbers, we've got numbers."

Smirking some Emily bumped her hip against Taki's, catching him off balance and making his take a step to the side to keep from falling. "Think we can win?"

Looking carefully at Emily as he thought Taki went through the numbers based on both the idea of them being outnumbered and being on par with the other forming teams. He thought about conflict and potential traitors, then about the lives everyone had to continue because they weren't all-powerful Norse gods, throw in the chance they'd get no help from the villain they all either understood or idolized and he had the numbers down pact.

"Hell yeah."

AN: Thank you so much Emily, I hope you don't mind that I gave you the power to pick up on strong thoughts and an affinity for smart-ass shirts.

thank you, villains, emily
