I quite like taking photographs of small things like birds, insects or flowers close up, with a wide aperture setting in order to blur the background (and often foreground).
Although the background is nearer the dragonfly, so the bokeh is more of an acheivement. And also, I actually prefer the dragonfly image - it's slightly less busy, and I like the colour contrast. Also, I prefer the subject matter, but that's a personal opinion, rather than a technical one.
