I'd suggest the Sound Organisation. Vickers might be able to help, too.

Or if you want to chance mail order, HifiBitz - that's where I bought my Classik and Kans from and they were very competitive.

Those two shops always make me think I'm going to have to take out a second mortgage just to go in. I suppose I'm a bit worried they might scoff at me for my lack of knowledge, and not wanting to spend more than £50 on a cartridge.

But I'll bear it in mind.

Actually, Sound Organisation's Website has provided me with an answer. Well, by means of suggesting a few current cartridges I can find out more about, anyway - they don't give prices.

It seems the Audio Technica AT95E is very similar to the K9 (which was made by AT anyway), and makes a superb replacement choice. And I've seen them retail for under £20 online, which is very good value.

Ironically, my spare record deck is a 1980's Audio Technica, though it's very plasticky and naff looking. But it sounds OK. Not a patch on the Linn obviously!
