Was talking about this tonight with mates just before The Game and we all agreed that Gordon should have just had the guts to stand by what he said and say as much - he was already damned by the media for what he said, he had sod all to lose so he may as well just spoke his mind.
I'm getting more and more tired of hearing and reading what is little more than playground bullying and child-logic used by the media in the build-up to this election (usually against the red party), they're just so desperate to 'put one over' on the politicians every time they speak to them. Is really quite quite tedious and annoying now.
But then people buy the papers, read the websites, watch the news. I guess we just have to sleep in the bed we made...
I completely disagree with your very last sentence: the best type of bed to sleep in is one that is not made by you, or even better, one that isn't a bed at all. I should start an anarchist movement: we'd call it 'Sleep In A Tree'.
(By the way, I may be feverish.)
But more generally: yes, he should have just spoken his mind. Is sad we live in a world where it would have been political suicide.
