I just finished my editorial for american history, wanna peek? It's about evolution.
Beliefs Surrounding Existence
There is constant debate about the cause of life on Earth; religious beliefs contradicting scientific theories. Science says evolution is the reason that we are here, evolution is the idea that life began very simple, then in order to survive became more complex. Microbiology has taught us that the cooperation of a huge number of cells as building blocks make up our bodies, and all other living things, this is enough evidence to prove that evolution is the cause of our existence through the idea that all these single-celled organisms have evolved to the point of working together and using our bodies to survive. Besides biology there are theories of not only geology and astronomy but several other sciences that argue creationism and other religious beliefs. There is a lot of evidence that can used to claim that evolution is the cause of life.
Creationism says God created all life and made humans the way they are. It is also the most common argument against evolution, saying that evolution couldn’t be true because God made humans the way they are purposely. However creationism also says that God finished the creation of earth 10,000 years ago, while there is geological evidence of rocks being millions of years old. Despite proof contradicting actual translations of the bible, creationism continues to be a strong belief of many.
Intelligent design is a theory that could be interpreted as a settlement between the debates of existence. Intelligent design says that it was the knowledge of a higher beings that has brought the simple prokaryote cell to the specialized eukaryotic cell, and the eukaryotic cell to multi-celled organisms, and eventually brought life to what it is today. Evolution seems to be like detail; being chased by a lion might be risky but add the detail of shelter between you and the lion and it sounds like you will be ok. Our existence may only be the addition of details made by much more intelligent entities.
It would seem that religion will always cause a problem for science. Debating on evolution and creationism seems eternal. Even now with all this evidence achieved through science people still doubt evolution, the belief of an intangible God possessing the minds of several. Maybe it is because people would rather be dishonest then reject the beliefs of those who raised them, perhaps we will know evolution as fact as soon as we evolve to the point that get over insecurities such as those generated by disappointing those who someone may love and respect.
