FYI, that's the original Godzilla suit (from GOJIRA) and his very first leading lady.

Speaking of which, this photo proves positively that Godzilla has the same size-changing capability that his son demonstrates in films like GODZILLA'S REVENGE. From human scale to skyscraper scale, and back again -- no problem.

It also proves that he's a true ladies' monster...

And people always wonder how there can be a son of Godzilla...

("For Godzilla so loved the world that he gave us his only son...")

That's so fucking bizarre: Why does Godzilla have a parasol?

It was probably a hot day...

(Actually, it kind of makes sense: Godzilla's rugose skin was a conscious choice on the part of Toho's monster designers. They knew he was a dinosaur and that if dinosaurs resembled modern reptiles, he'd probably have scales. But he was supposed to be a scarred-up mutant dinosaur, so they gave him a scar-covered, lava-like hide. They've never changed it to this day, and it's never mentioned in any of the movies.

So if his skin's already that bad, the last thing he needs is more sun...)

That makes sense.

What was the Japanese hero that couldn't stay in the sun too long? Ultra Man? Spectreman? I could look it up, but I figured you would know. Didn't Rodan's head get red if he stayed in the sun too long?

Hmmmmm... the only one I can think of that's close to this is Kamen Rider, but his deal is that he's powered by solar energy and becomes weaker when the sun sets. Rodan (and his mate, in the original film RODAN) were just enormous pterosaurs with supersonic flight and the power to flap their wings and generate hurricane winds. They created a newer knockoff, Fire Rodan, within the past 20 years -- he's got fire powers...
