It strikes close to home when you share a metro area with someone that high profile.
Yes indeed; I lived in the little town of Camarillo, California - and I remember when the movie Titanic came out accompanied by endless special TV features and documentaries.
So when one local boy went to church there, whole streets were shut down from people crowding in to have a look at Leonardo DiCaprio.
He no longer attends, to the relief of the church and many locals at least.

I generally think it is good for Israel to be diversifying, and I think Russia is taking the threat of Islamism seriously.
The US is not. And I don't see that changing. Even Trump seems likely to respond with political theatre that will inconvenience the uninvolved while leaving the machinery intact

Trump's treatment of Israel and the Middle East in general is less than my hopes but better than your expectations. It can still go either way.
