fantastisch! that is the BEST explanation of any language i've ever heard!

i would be ever so grateful if you would write an entire book on the french language in exactly the same style - i can guarantee you at least ONE customer :D

but seriously - i love learning about language in this way - direct words and phrases have a hard time sticking in my mind, but when i am able to learn the history of a word or phrase, it just becomes that much more interesting, and worthy of remembering.

oh, and i forgot to mention, that i had noticed that the woman's language seemed so clipped that i sometimes wondered if the recorder had abruptly cut her off, whilst the man's pronunciation of things had seemed italian to me - i have just read a book about josephine bonaparte, and had wondered if the man on the cd might be from an area close to corsica.
