LJ WTF

I'm still getting a failure to load most images and CSS from LJ.

The problem seems to be that l-stat.livejournal.com isn't responding.

Both LJ and Xtra are showing no reported errors.

Anyone else seeing or heard about this?

[EDIT] Thanks ferrouswheel for the fix. DNS issues. Changing to OpenDNS fixes.

I changed to opendns instead of the Orcon DNS servers. Everything loads fine now - I suspect some weird stuff went on somewhere in NZ's DNS chain.

(Also, I have your whiteboard at my flat if you feel like picking it up sometime)

Changing to OpenDNS sorted it. Any downside from staying that way forever?

Apparently it will skip over cache services provided by Orcon so you may use a little more bandwidth...

(assuming Orcon aren't just reselling the whole Xtra backhaul system).

It's not just Orcon (Telecom & Slingshot also). Apparently it's related to ISPs that use the Optus link.
