As some of you might now I've been toiling away at a software project for the last nine months or so.
It's now at the stage of actually bearing fruit.
What I've developed is a mapping and navigation engine for mobile devices (Android for now) that works with OpenStreetMap data, avoids
Google Maps license restrictions and can provide realtime navigation even when offline.
Here's some screenshots:
It's going to be part of some entertainment applications on Android Market and will probably also be opensourced in due course.
Now, I'm looking for some help:
Beta testing
The app should be ready for beta test in the next week or so. I'm going to be rolling out map data gradually starting with NZ. If anyone's got an Android and would like to do some testing, then I'd love to send you a beta.
Just sign up here.
Graphic designer
You'll notice that on the prototype the graphic icons are a bit meh. I'm looking for someone with the skills to shiny them up.
It's a good opportunity to get some mobile device / Android experience for a CV. I don't have the cash to pay anything for this upfront, but can arrange something around sharing dollars when they do come through. It's probably just a few days work at this stage.
Voices
I'm also looking for people to voice directions and messages in the final app. In line with the theme, I want convincing or real working class/urban British and American accents, maybe Aussie. It's probably a couple of hours work for each person doing the voicing, and I'd like to get male and female voices.
Again, no dollars, but a spot on the credits and a line for the CV.
