I remember hearing talk of this on breakfast TV the other day. There was a spokeswoman from Brent Cross refuting all the allegations. Apparently they're not banning Father Christmas - it had only been a suggestion in ONE centre. Somehow the media (unsurprisingly papers like The 'Scum, Daily Mail) got hold of it and blew it completely out of proportion, generating a sort of mass anti-PC hysteria. Since the story was run, there have been many debates on internet forums and radio programs regarding this keeping the subject alive (in a Chinese Whispers sort of way - you know, starts of as one thing ends up as another). However, since the original story was run, I've seen little more of it mentioned in the newspapers (actually I don't read the Scum or the Mail, so I could be horribly wrong). Besides, the red-clad roly poly Santa of today seems to be far-removed from the religious origins of the Saint Nicholas figure, I hardly see how he could be offensive to anyone
