That's a better list than I came up with! I got this

1. Watched a wild Bald Eagle fish.

2. Worked as a seasonal agricultural laborer (raked blueberries)

3. Lived in a home with no running water. (not camping- year round living)

4. Worked on an archaeological excavation in Belize, as an excavator and a surveyor.

5. Fried a trout 5 minutes after catching it and ate it for breakfast

(and I KNOW that amerigance can call me on at least on of those, and augustsnow on another)

My brother and I went on Mom and Dad's caving trips. The Pinacates are heavily mined with caves - the whole area is volacnic lava, and fairly recent, geologically speaking. Mom and Dad were in the big cave, (the aptly-named "Seething Beetle") and Steve and I were poking around in the lava tunnels in the same general area. We had kid's caving helmts with the strap-on lights, so it wasn't a big deal to go crawling around in the dark, and in the heat of the desert, it was the only comfortable place to be ( ... )

It was one of the high points of the trip to Mexico. There is a water park called Xel-Ha there which is all set up for "eco-tourism". It's set in a series of natural lagoons which abut the ocean and are fed by seawater. They keep dolphins in one of the lagoons. It's like Sea World, only with actual seawater.

The whole experience was costly and heavily supervised, but what else would you expect? I know a few of the women in our group were inexplicably squeamish about fish and seaweed. (I'll never understand why they'd want to play with a 300 pound aquatic mammal if the ocean bothers them ( ... )

You know... as disturbing as this is to think about #5 is not so uncommon as one might hope. I cannot say for sure it has happened to me, but I have witnessed it happening to others.

That said, your being a girl and outside a straight bar in Wales makes it pretty exclusive territory.

For which I think we should all be devoutly grateful. Some experiences really oughtn't happen even once.

"Some experiences really oughtn't happen even once."

... And the unavoidable once is what I thought we kept Tom around for.
