Dealing

I've always been accused of being insensitive or cold when people around me die. Recently my grandfather died at the ripe old age of 86. This is a man whom I respected and admired deeply for many reasons and I was truly sad to hear that his time had finally come. My condolences. 86 though, that's pretty good! A long and full life, I'm sure. I lost my Great Grandmother last year at the age of 90-something, and now my Great Grandfather (my only remaining blood-related male relative) is in the hospital and doesn't have long...he's 90 years old.

I did cry about it though...and probably will when my Great Grandfather reaches his end as well. But I'm a girl, and most men already have a different way of dealing with their feelings...you may just happen to have a different way even from that *shrug*

...I think I cried harder and longer when my cat died than when my Great Grandmother did. Discovering the dead body (hell, even just seeing the dead body at all) and watching it get buried probably made a difference. It's a lot easier to feel like they just aren't around, but not dead, when you never see the fact for yourself I guess?
