[sweaters are ridiculous and constricting, but Baldr's not one to let this put a damper on his mood, much less when this means his household is getting to meet Thor, who is the coolest half-brother ever.]
This chill is enough to rival the winters of Asgard, but not enough to rival Jotunheim's! [he laughs, amused. if this is the best mayfield can do, it has clearly messed with the wrong people. at least, in terms of dealing with the cold weather. on the food front, he's a little more worried, but he's sure things will--somehow--turn out fine.]
[Thor's less worried about food - even the apocalypse only lasted three days, after all, and provided they don't vanish completely, the goats could feed them all for a few days. (They are large goats.)
He shuts the door behind Baldr before he turns to give him an enthusiastic MEDIEVAL FOREARM-GRAB OF BRO (TM), beckoning him to where the fire burns merrily in the living room.]
I've slept under the stars in snows deeper than this! Here at least we've more than enough to drink, and better company than giants!
[Aurora followed her not!hubby Baldr here, and is all bundled up in as much clothing and blankets as she can manage. She's figured out she doesn't much like this cold business. She manages to keep an cheerful attitude as best as she can, though, and is currently feeding the goats some bread crusts.]
You guys are wearing fur coats, but I hope you're not too cold too!
[Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr seem glad of the attention - they take the crusts with enthusiasm, nosing at Aurora for more. Thor watches with a grin - good to see the goats get some reward for their hard work in keeping the place warm (and full of hair and goat breath, incidentally, but hey, at least it's not cold). He gives the nearest one a fond scratch between the horns.]
I'm sure they scarce notice it, lady - they've crossed worlds in far worse than this!
[He makes an expansive gesture with the hand not occupied scratching the goat.]
Together they draw my chariot over the roads and fields and skies of the realms - from the furthest reaches of Jotunheim to the tallest mountains of Midgard, and returning on the back of the lightning itself to our home in Asgard!
[He regards them both fondly.]
They've not run any sky-roads since they came here, but they bear me through the streets of Mayfield as faithfully as they ever did the snows of Jotunheim.
[Chandra shows up in the evening after her arrival, cold and irritated after not having been able to planeswalk away. She sees the fire, and immediately makes a beeline for it, more or less ignoring the others in the room.]
Finally, some actual fire.
[She then proceeds to see if she can draw any mana from it - which more or less means trying to stick her hands into the fire and then pulling them back surprised when it actually burns.]
Might as well fix the fire, too, while he's at it -- Loki cups one hand so the fingers form a circle, then holds it to his mouth and blows through it, towards the flames. The fire is suddenly hotter, brighter -- and the firewood isn't burning away anymore. That fire's going to stay where it is, whether it's tended or not, until morning at least.]
[The heap of blankets and scarves and hats that has shown up at the door is hardly recognizable as Dakki. Maybe the bit of pale blonde hair sticking out from beneath the stocking cap would give it away...]
Can I come in? ..Oh? Oh, good, it's cold...
[And once inside, she sheds a few layers, because it's actually sort of toasty in there. Off go the hats, off go the scarves (one of which she may not be able to find later, due to goats...) off goes the big outer coat, and she has herself a sitdown by the fire.]
You guys seem to have a lot of experience dealing with weather like this. Am I right? I'm not complaining...
...hardly? Where DO you come from? [So she can make sure to never, EVER go there because ARRGH COLD.]
Ahh... body heat, right? The more people in one place, the more of it you'll have?
[Having sat down and settled herself, she pulls out her knitting! It's warm enough in here that her fingers aren't likely to seize up or get frostbite. She's making a... pretty bad scarf. Gotta start somewhere...]
I come from Asgard, of course-- but I've journeyed in the wilds of Jotunheim, and in realms where men build houses of ice, because the trees will not grow for the cold! Luckily, we've fire here, and plenty willing hands to tend it.
[He eyes her knitting work critically; and, when he sees what she's trying to accomplish, with a grin. It reminds him of home, and of women sewing shirts around winter fires. Though Dakki's work is... not quite of the quality he remembers.]
....You'll not draw any husband that way, you know!
[Lym heard the noise and saw a large group of people, she was struggling with some sort of a statue bust and three jackets, but the air around her seemed warmer as she tried to bang on the door twice and failed before just kind of ramming it]
[Thor experiences a good half-minute in which he is sure that some enemy is attempting to break the door down, and despairs that his hammer is on the front lawn, useless, and also periodically flickering in and out of existence. Of course Mayfield would send an enemy now, when he is weaponless and protecting a house full of defenseless people--!
But when he wrenches the door open with a warlike growl, he is rather surprised to find Lym on the doorstep rather than a raging troll. And rather annoyed by this.]
Think you to break my door down? It is cold enough without making kindling of it!

No, no, you've got it all wrong! You do it like this.
[And he sticks a hand in the fire. Lucky for him, his fire regain hasn't been disabled -- for the moment.]

The more we have gathered here, the warmer we'll be when the sun sets!

Look you-- if you seek warmth, then my hall is open to you! But do not stand here where the wind will undo all the work done in warming it!
