It's up to you to know what you're going to end up putting in the potential future public entries. What's good about it is that you can always make them friends-only just before posting them.

Good luck with throwing that idea as far as you can and running back to catch it before it falls.

I've changed my mind a little bit. If making the entries public will restrict what you intend to write, then I'd say to keep those entries more private. I think writing as much as you can is the best.
