yeah, I googled the phrase after making that comment. Seems I'm not the one to coin it, but I'll still take credit for thinking of it independantly of the rest.

Try following the corporate take-over trail. Scroll down the bottom of the website of the winery and see if a corporation owns it. It will either say in the Copyright sign at the bottom, or hidden somewhere in the text of "who we are." (e.g. Bigass Bottling Co. proudly presents the latest Bourdeaux from C'est French Winery...) Then find the holding company's website and scour the press releases and annual reports for what the winery used to be or who owned it before the current umbrella corp. The past decade or so, wineries, breweries and liquor companies have been bought, sold, and made parts of larger corporate/bottling/beverage conglomerates. A winery in Australia could be owned by a beverage holding company in Mexico... without giving away any confidential information. ;) (Note the latest public acquisition Budweiser was involved in...)

However, should it suck, "Operation: Winecrime" jokes will be forthcoming.
