Well, it looks like Hurricane Rita is heading toward Galveston, which is only about 50 miles from Houston. This is one big storm. Spent all night packing up a few things, backing up my computer, and getting ready to take me and my cat Harley to my sisters house ( Read more... )

You probably don't have power right now - but I just wanted to let you know when you do get back online that I've been sending good thoughts your way since this hurricane started heading towards Texas. After suffering through 4 hurricanes myself last year, I know what it's like. Take care!

Thanks for the good thoughts. They helped! We were very lucky. Didn't get much rain at all out here in Katy. The wind was really bad last night. We never lost power either.

I've tried calling my house and the answering machine doesn't pick up, which could mean I have no power. I talked to a friend who lives a few blocks away and they haven't had power since 7:00 last night and that was before the rain started! She may drive over tomorrow morning and see if I do have power.

Looks like Rita may be dropping quite a bit of rain where the folks live. Will just have to wait and see.
