Another year

Mar 17, 2008 10:50

Today marks a year since my last post. It's not that I have much to say. It's just time to start again. The anniversary, the Ides of March and St. Patrick's Day, is and has been a hard one (reference last two posts from a year ago.) Our beautiful girl gave us six weeks during which she was nearly herself, seemed so normal, and then on May 1, after ( Read more... )

Hi, Rick, so happy to see your post. Sorry about your loss. Hope you are well. What are the chances that you might write us another Ennis & Jack story? I so loved Santa Fe. When you publish your novel, be sure to let me know. I'd love to read it. Take care. Donna :-)

I doubt I'll write anymore Brokeback stories. I think those two were my "takes" on the possible conclusions, canon and AU. I really need to concentrate, with whatever time I can pull from the workday, on that novel. I'll surely let my friends online know if it even does find publication.

I do not now you but I hope you do keep up your work on your novel as it seems like it is something important to you. Do not let the drudge of daily living drive it out of your life.

Thanks, Mel. I've stayed with it for so many years, now, I'm going to see it through. Daily life has dragged it on (and on, and on...)but I'm determined, even if it never sees publication, to finish it, as a project and real practice, if nothing else. How did you find me?

I was just browsing around following links wasting time - I should be in bed.

I only signed up for live journal today.

I am sorry to read abut your dog dying. I have a dog too, well she is really my Grandma's - who died at Christmas (my Gran died not the dog, I would hate to loose her now because she is a link to my Gran.

I see you seem to like Annie Proulx very much. I have seen her books but never read any.

What else do you do beside writing?

I love Brokeback Mountain, as written by Annie Proulx. Yes. Her writing is brilliant, and what she packed into a short story with such eloquence, has grown into its own life. I have only read bits of her other writing, all incredible wordsmithing.

I've had many dogs, none as bonded and special as our Erin. Today, St. Patrick's Day, is the anniversary of our rescuing her from the shelter in Santa Fe.

I do real estate to make money (haha), and have done many things in my life. Take a look at my profile, or bio, or whatever LJ calls it.

I wonder how, just browsing, you found me? Are you a writer? Did we match interests? Are you into Brokeback Mountain? Interesting, how it works, how people find each other.

What about you?

Hi rick wayne1932 March 19 2008, 14:14:28 UTC
Glad to see you alive and well on LJ again. ;-)

Just re-read your BBM writings The Cold and Santa Fe. You have a definite way with words, they are some of my favorite stories. I'm glad Jenna twisted your arm to put them up on BBMSlash. I met her before her "problem" She's a fascinating woman. Do you still read a lot of BBM fan-fiction? I thought that I had got it out of my system, but it keeps coming back. Strange how that story has taken hold like a bulldog and just won't let go.

I still have the response you wrote to me after you read "my story" on my LJ. It's one of the things that keeps me from thinking I'm all alone or just nuts.

Thanks, Wayne. Yeah still alive and relatively well. No, I don't read much Brokeback fanfic lately. Just the occasional short piece. I try to focus and discipline myself to go back to my other writing. It's way too easy to get diverted. But I do still linger and join discussions. Ol'Brokeback got us good, huh.
