Your story Santa Feoasis3017December 1 2006, 15:39:12 UTC
Hi Rick, Ea recommended your story and I'm happy she did. I've watched BBM and felt unsatisfied with the ending. Now I got the chance to read about an alternative way for Jack and Ennis - and I loved it! Over all I admired how you captured their way to talk with each other. It was as if I watched the film - and I'm happy that you created a happy ending for them though there's still the fear of being separated by fate. I'm from Germany so bear with my English. It was nice to read you!:-) Monika

Monika, Thank you so very much. No problems with your English. You should hear my (3 words of) German. I'm so glad you liked the alternative ending, and, especially that you liked the dialog. I tried to stay as true to the canon characters as possible, to keep them Jack and Ennis, despite the passage of years. I'm glad you found it so. Thanks for giving me a smile early in my day today.
I can't believe there are only six comments on this AWESOME ficlet. I found it my stash and read it and I am now pimping it to all my Brokie friends. Had to put out a call to the wild to see who wrote it and here I am.
God I wish I could write like you! Simple but yet dense, filled with tons of emotion. I feel like I just got wrapped up in a really warm soft blanket and was transported to another space. This is a story that gets me emotionally and in my gut and I have a hard time writing out how much it meant to me and how much it affected me.
Sooooooo glad I found this. Gonna print it for my BBM library, it's that damned good.
Looks like you have others here in your journal, so I'm off to check them out.
You are more than welcome to write more like Sante Fe. It rocked my world.
Thank you, greatlyrickp43September 19 2008, 03:01:34 UTC
Thank you so much. It's been such a while since I wrote that, and even since I reposted it at Jenna's insistence on a couple other sites. I have received some humbling feedback, and I'm greatly appreciative, with all the fanfic out there on Brokeback, that mine does grab some now and then. Most seems more into the sexual aspects (fine), and I just wrote one to end the story a bit farther on, more canon, and this one, to try my hand at "fixin' it." I do have to say I didn't feel a need to fix it, because I think AP's point was that there are some things you just can't and have to stand. But still, I did love taking them somewhere a little less tragic. I'm moved that it moved you. Thank you so much!

For me, after all this time to find such a piece that hit me hard in a good way, I just love it. There are pieces that will stand the test of time and yours is one of them.
jenna is a great friend of mine. I can't wait to talk to her about Sante Fe. **Grumbles that she never told me about it**
Yeah, Annie's story had a point to make, but I'm one that has to fix it, not stand it. I'm a Jack where I'm a dreamer and feel that the world needs to be a better place. j and e's story is "many's" stories. Why should all those people have to stand it when they can have the opportunity to fix it? One of the many reasons why I love fan-fic.
And ps... smex is great!!! As long as there is plot to go with it. LOL. :)
