Fic: Family Reunion
Gift for
cullenblaze Takes place directly after World Without Magic. A family comes back together now that the curse is broken...
The apartment was tiny, but filled with love. Ella and Thomas simply held each other, enjoying the closeness and delighting in the memories that had been returned to them. They broke eye contact only to look over at Alexandra who played with her blocks, blissfully unaware of what the curse had put her family through.
“She and Emma should be the same age. Snow and I had thought they would be best friends,” Ella murmured and leaned her head on to Thomas' shoulder as he squeezed her tighter.
“We were lucky. Though the years were lost, our daughter's life was not. We will get to watch her grow. James and Snow had that taken away from them.”
Ella blinked back a tear.
“I feel so happy and sad at the same time,” she confessed, and Thomas kissed her.
An insistent pounding at the door made them break apart in alarm.
Everyone in town was still trying to process all the memories that had suddenly been dumped back on them less than an hour ago, who would be seeking Prince Thomas and Princess Ella now?
Thomas made it to the door first with Ella right behind him, he gave her a warning look then opened the door. The sight made him freeze in shock.
It was Thomas' father. For the past twenty-eight years the man had been so cruel to her and controlling to his own son that Ella automatically flinched and took a step back.
The man reached out a hand to pat Thomas' cheek then turned to Ella. Tears streamed down his face and he fell to his knees at her feet.
“My dearest, sweet Ella. My daughter, please forgive me...” he began around quiet sobs, but Ella cut him off.
“No, there's nothing to forgive. The curse has cost us all so much, I refuse to allow it to take anything else from me...”
The soft coo and giggle of a baby announced that little Alexandra was on her way to see what her parents were doing. Not yet old enough to walk, she was crawling along the threadbare carpet at a very fast pace.
Thomas smiled and turned to scoop her up as Ella helped his father stand.
“Alexandra, this is your grandpa,” he said holding her out to the older man.
The baby went willingly to him, which was odd as she didn't normally take to strangers.
He kissed her and snuggled her close, the baby laughing all the while.
After a few minutes of playing with Alexandra, Thomas' father turned to look at him and Ella.
“Well? What are you waiting for? Get packed! I'll not have my family living in a place like this!” He commanded, and Alexandra looked at her parents and mimicked his stern expression.
Ella laughed and hugged them both, dropping a kiss on Alexandra's cheek.
“Yes sir,” she said and hurried away to do just that.
“What's the plan?” Thomas asked his father.
“I don't know. I came straight here. Obviously Emma broke the curse, but I don't know what happened to the evil queen.”
Thomas sighed and shook his head.
“Why do I get the feeling the battle is only just beginning?”
His father held the baby up playfully much to her amusement.
“It doesn't matter. We're together and we know who we are. Whatever happens next, we'll face it as a family.”
