Stolen from Shaolin beaver
Who Stole it from Intergral
Here's the idea...
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...
I don’t have much music on my computer but will use Launchcast as its adapted to my listening pleasure.
Opening Credits
Robert Palmer- “I’ll be your baby tonight.”
Thoughts: bouncy, upbeat almost tropical beat. This would be a light rom-com or possibly a misleading start… Definitely an ariel pan over an island chain, maybe hawaii or somewhere in the Carribean.
Waking Up
Simon and Garfunkel- “Richard Corey”
Thoughts: “owns one half of this whole town” okay. So it’s a bouncy happy morning could either be low class court in the rat race family, or the upperclass. “surely must be happy with everything he’s got” could be intercutting between rich and poor, perhaps a version of the prince and pauper. Dark ending… perhaps foreshadowing.
First Day At School
Frank Sinatra- “time after time”
Thoughts: laid back, this is a nice school. hero is probably laid back and cool or hopelessly head over heels or both.
Falling In Love
R.E.M.- “I wanted to be wrong”
Thoughts: probably a hidden love, possibly between people who argue in public. Possibly across class divisions.
Fight Song
Barenaked Ladies- “Wind it up.”
Thoughts: good beat, but it seems to be one person attacking while the other tries to explain…
Breaking Up
The Rembrants- “Rolling down the hill”
Thoughts: still up beat. “we’ve been friends forever” seems that it’s a rather amicable breakup. An acceptance for the moment of their troubles pulling them apart. At least on the outside. This is the sort of the breakup where they say good bye, turn and only then do you see the tears.
Prom
Petula Clark- “Downtown”
Thoughts: very much a stag affair for the hero it would seem though after a short while things begin to pick up possibly leaving the prom and going his own way.
Life Is Good
Chuck Berry- “Rock and Roll Music”
Thoughts: simple enjoyable rock. Could be working out or could just be general activities to the tune. Good place for dream sequence in a fifties dinner.
Mental Breakdown
Rod Stewart- “the first cut is the Deepest”
Thoughts: seems the breakup wasn’t as clean as it at first seemed.
Driving
Hootie and the Blowfish- “Hold my Hand”
Thoughts:coastal drive with the wind in their hair, ready to hit the accelerator around the corners. Chasing or Running to someone? Possibly playing the hero through the night.
Flashback
Tom Petty- “Flirting with time”
Thoughts: seems to be a dessert items. But also rather psychedelically “hold the sunlight” end of the road ideas… still rather upbeat however.
Getting Back Together
Billy Joel- “Baby grand”
Thoughts: seems to be a soft reunion. The beloved emerging from the haze and offering her same love, also meeting and reconciliations of two very different groups
Wedding
Steve Miller Band- “blues with a feeling”
Thoughts: well that’s not good… rain on the wedding day.
Paying The Dues
Dierks Bentley- “My last name”
Thoughts: and it comes back to family… a name that isn’t cool, lower class?
The Night Before The War
Marc Cohen- “walking in memphis”
Thoughts: A foreign place, a new challenge… A few moments of contemplation on ones own. Preparations are done, looking at why we fight. Last change to turn back… no atheists in a foxhole. Definitely a night time scene in the rain.
Final Battle
The Smiths- “how soon is now?”
Thoughts: this is it. Dirty city fight, there’s no glory here. Some recognition that both sides are human? Or a plea of the oppressed to be recognised? Worker uprising?
Moment of Triumph
Jerry Lee Lewis- “rock and roll”
Thoughts: old fashioned but still good. Have fun with the one you love.
Death Scene
Fleetwood Mac- The ledge
Thoughts- bouncy comedy-ish death scene!... okay that’s an odd death scene, maybe telling about a death seen but not heard “tell you what its really all about.”
Funeral Song
Paul Simon- “Under African Sighs”
Thoughts- tribal burial, Possibly a final acceptance of a person into the group or of their place as they watch. Its somewhat upbeat, perhaps death is not the end. Perhaps its just the start of something new. “this is just the story of how we begin to remember” possibly running into…
End Credits
The Kinks- “All day and All of the Night”
Thoughts: upbeat ending. They got out okay and can make their own life now together into the sunset
Well that wasn’t as bad as it could have been…
If anyone has any other interpretations of the songs I’d love to hear them.
