I'm sorry I've been so scarce recently, but it's been a damn busy month. Obviously I'm still working on Detective Story - I'll update you on how that's going another day, since this is the one day I promised I'd give myself a break from directorly duties. It's not a chemical thing. It's a nefarious background pressure emanated by the expectations of everyone around you. Not the people that are close to you, your friends and (presumably?) family, because you get attuned to their pressures and that's how you become comfortable around them. No, the people, the blank faces that would be randomly generated based on blank archetypes and stencils if this were a Grand Theft Auto game, the unnamed and unknown folk whose threads of existence just so happen to bring them in proximity to you..... this strange radiation, this vast conglomerate of unnoticed, sub-subconscious influence, all blends into a massive force of genericness, stamping and forcing all unique fibre from your being. It's not a malicious or nefarious or deliberate act, it's a side-effect of having a lot of people in one place at one time. It's why people that want to be "hip" live in Hollywood, so they can all soak up everyone else's "generic hip" vibe. It's like ducks migrating... they all form a giant V, trading off leadership ( ... )
